Oil on canvas 50 x 70 cm From personal experience, when I am stressed out, I become too tired to talk to others, isolating myself. Thus, this piece explains that stress causes one to be lonely. The impressionistic brush strokes used in the painting reflect the figure’s distress. The whiskey shows that he is drowning his sorrows away. The empty bar and day-time setting show that the man has no one to seek comfort in. By centering the figure and surrounding him with darkness, I wanted viewers to feel isolated as well.
